My Brother’s Keeper is a vibrant, welcoming Christian charity which delivers furniture and food free of charge to local families in need. Their stated mission is “To bring the Love and Hope of Jesus Christ to those we serve” through their actions and service. Anyone living in their service area is eligible to receive their help, regardless of religion.
In 1988, a husband and wife, Jim and Terry Orcutt, began their work simply and humbly in the cellar of their Taunton home using roof racks on an old Chevy Cavalier. They had virtually no resources: friends and family collected returnable cans and bottles to help raise money for basic expenses like gas.
Today, their annual budget is $3.8 million and our mission is carried out by 4,000 volunteers and 12 full-time employees working from two modern flex-warehouse facilities in Easton and Dartmouth, MA. They complete 9,000 deliveries per year and have made 135,000 total deliveries.
My Brother’s Keeper is 100% privately-funded. They receive no government support. 92% of all donations go to program services.
