Kaplan Construction’s COO awarded prestigious honor for implementing new technology

BOSTON – September 13, 2016 – Kaplan Construction, a WBE general contractor and construction management firm providing comprehensive building programs across Greater Boston, announced today that its COO, Jane Kaplan Peck, has been named one of the 2016 Women in Construction by the editorial board Constructech Magazine. Jane was one of 38 honorees selected based on their ability to go far beyond their own roles to instill changes in both their company’s technology and the industry as a whole.

“Each of these women has stepped up to the plate to undertake some of the world’s biggest projects,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Constructech Magazine.  “With their willingness to take these challenges head on, they have raised the bar significantly on what women can achieve in construction.”

Submissions were made by colleagues, bosses and peers to highlight women who have integrated new technology to improve the quality of work.  Kaplan Construction provides all superintendents, project managers and support staff with iPads loaded with Procore, a cloud-based construction management software application that allows team members to collaborate on projects, including all project communication, drawings, and documentation.

Award winners were honored at a dinner at the Constructech Magazine’s Technology Day conference on August 18 in Schaumburg, Illinois and featured in the September/October 2016 issue of Constructech Magazine.

“Sean has achieved this promotion by not only being highly qualified with a breadth of experience, but also because he maintains excellent relationships with clients,” said Nate Peck, president of Kaplan Construction.  “Sean gives his full attention to each and every detail, whether working on a high profile project or a smaller renovation.  His knowledge of the field and his talent with Building Information Modeling (BIM) are a real asset to Kaplan.”

Sean’s portfolio as a Kaplan superintendent includes renovations and restoration of Congregation Kehillath Israel; site improvements for athenahealth’s master plan expansion; fit-outs for Bright Horizons, Tufts Medical Center, and Genzyme Corporation; and the historic rehab and adaptive reuse of 2101 Washington Street, soon home to 30 apartment units with ground floor retail space.
