Diversity and Inclusion

ABC MA Diversity and Inclusion Resources

The ABC MA Board of Directors established a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force to look at ways in which ABC can assist members to address these important areas in their own firms, and to provide resources to that end.  The task force consists of a cross section of ABC leadership, members and staff.

Through a process of thoughtful discussion over several sessions, the group established a mission to guide ABC’s efforts.

Mission Overview

ABC will seek to help members hire and develop a diverse and talented workforce and create an inclusive, respectful, welcoming and safe work environment.

ABC will focus on two primary areas in which to provide recommendations for action to the ABC Board of Directors: (1) Pre-apprenticeship programs and (2) Education for ABC members and their employees on diversity and inclusion.

Mission Statement:

We believe in the right of all individuals to live, work and achieve happiness and success in their lives and careers free from discrimination and harassment.

We will seek to help our members hire and develop a diverse and talented workforce and create an inclusive, respectful, welcoming and safe work environment.

We define diversity and inclusion broadly, to include race, color, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status, and membership or non-membership in any particular organization.

Based on the consensus of the Task Force members, we will focus on two primary areas in which to provide recommendations for action to the ABC Board of Directors: (1) Pre-apprenticeship programs aimed at developing a more diverse and inclusive future workforce pipeline for members; and (2) Education for ABC members and their employees on diversity and inclusion and what it means for both the companies and their employees, including information and resources.
