Connolly Brothers and GraVoc Team Up to Provide 61 Beds for Children in Need

Connolly Brothers, a general contractor and construction management firm, and GraVoc Associates,
a technology-consulting company, recently teamed up to sponsor a “Build A Bed” event on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Connolly Brothers offices in Beverly, Mass. to support A Bed for Every Child.

“When we heard about A Bed for Every Child and the work they are doing to help local disadvantaged kids, we instantly thought it was a great cause,” said Thad Minshall, vice president of real estate and development for Connolly Brothers. “As a fifth-generation construction company, the Build-A-Bed program dovetails nicely with our expertise and we knew this would be a great way to give back to the community. We were excited to host this event with GraVoc and we were thrilled by the support from local businesses.”

Launched in 2012, A Bed for Every Child provides beds for children living in poverty. Since its inception, the program has delivered more than 7,000 beds.

For a $250 donation, teams of two to four people were given the materials needed to build a bed for a needy child. Connolly Brothers and GraVoc secured sponsorships to cover the cost of 61 beds.

“June15th was truly a beautiful day as we joined forces with our friends at Connolly Brothers for our Build-A-Bed event,” said David Gravel, CEO of GraVoc. “With 61 sponsored beds, it was amazing to see everyone come together for an important and special cause. A Bed for Every Child truly hits near and dear to our company as we believe no child should be without something so basic as a bed to sleep in. We are proud to have had this opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child’s life.”

The newly built bed frames will be delivered to children in need, along with a new twin mattress and bedding. Children in Lynn, Nahant, Beverly, Danvers, Salem, Saugus, Gloucester, and Peabody will receive the beds.

About A Bed For Every Child

A Bed for Every Child was launched in 2012 when a public-school teacher asked for help to get beds for her students. What she was witnessing was the same as hundreds of other teachers across our state teaching in communities, students coming to school tired and unfocused because they were lacking one of life’s most important physical and mental factors: healthy sleep. A Bed for Every Child provides beds for children living in poverty without one of their own. Since its inception, the program has delivered more than 7,000 beds.
