For those who have not already heard, there is some really great news to report on Ari’s health situation. Just in time for Father’s Day, Ari was released from Boston Children’s Hospital yesterday after being there for 189 days! (see https://www.erland.com/ari.html for more details and awesome video feed). Ari still faces many challenges on his road to recovery, but as you will see in the video feed, lack of positive spirit is not one of them! It’s awesome that the family is together again in their temporary home in Sudbury as we are preparing for the construction of their replacement home.
As far as the construction of the new home is concerned, we have worked our way through much of the permitting process, and begun to disconnect the utilities in preparation for the demolition of the existing house late June or early July. The construction documents are nearing completion and will be ready to submit to the Building Inspector next week for his review (great job by Anthony Vivirito and others at The Architectural Team!). The Estimating and Purchasing Team at Erland are currently reviewing the documents and defining scope so that we can most effectively reach out to those of you who have generously offered your support. We are obviously focusing on the early trades such as demolition, site, foundation, and framing first and have made some real progress there. The other trades will follow and you can expect to hear from us soon.
I have added some names to this mailing list, including the awesome people at Gould Construction Institute and Associated Builders and Contractors of MA (who have not only made generous donations but have assisted in our search for subcontractor donors). Also added are members of the Assumption College Baseball Team who came by a couple of weeks ago to remove fence, salvage some plantings and landscape features, and spend some quality time with shovels uncovering underground structures (thanks guys!) If you know anyone else who may be able to help and would like to be included in this letter, please reply with their contact info and I will add them as well.
With Ari’s release from the hospital and our project kick-off rapidly approaching , this is a very exciting time. Thanks to everyone for their efforts so far! Best Wishes to the Schultz family and everyone else on this Father’s Day Weekend!
