The tournament includes separate divisions for boys aged 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16, as well as a girls' division.
ABC board member and former University of New Hampshire hockey player Jim Abbott coached the team of 11-year olds that included his son Riley. As Abbott was assembling the group, he called fellow ABC board member Karl Hudson, whose 11-year old son Gavin also joined.
By the time the team arrived in Europe on August 7, it included members from around the Boston area and even two teammates from New York. The traveling group included three generations of Hudsons and two generations of Abbotts.
In addition to some great hockey, the team and their families got to see one of the world's most beautiful and historic cities. Among the activities they enjoyed was a cruise down the Vltava River with the team from Sweden.
The tournament also included a party that gave the team and their families the opportunity to meet their counterparts from places like Russia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Canada. "It was just a wonderful experience," Jim Abbott said. "Playing hockey against other countries, getting to meet families from all over the world and having all these experiences in a beautiful city."
