I’m also pleased to serve at a time when Massachusetts is being led by the Baker administration. I have known and respected Charlie for a long time, having served as a Selectman in Swampscott a few years before he did. Those of us who were involved with government affairs during the eight years of the previous administration can’t help but appreciate being consulted by state leaders who are eager to hear what we think about issues affecting the construction industry.
In the day-to-day whirlwind of running our businesses, it’s easy to lose sight of just how much progress ABC has made in recent years. A group that not long ago was on the edges of the political process in Massachusetts has now developed strong relationships with political figures from both parties.
I am also proud to be leading ABC during the first year of our ABC Building our Future Scholarship. We raised over $125,000 last year for this scholarship. We have filed our application with the IRS for tax exempt status. We expect to be able to announce our first scholarships later this year.
Our five-year strategic plan provides a pathway to continue to grow our influence and enhance our reputation so that we can be the leading voice of the open shop. I hope each of you will take an interest in and support the new plan,
