NEWTON, MA/July 8, 2020 – Mark Development selected Erland Construction and Form + Place, Inc. to renovate 8,200 square feet of commercial space for The Barn Family Shoe Store in Newton, Mass. This is Mark Development’s second project with Erland.

The Barn, a retail fixture since 1948, carries high-quality footwear and casual apparel for women, men, and children, has been named Best of Boston by Boston Magazine, and has won Wicked Local Media’s #1 Readers Choice Award. The Barn will be the first locally owned business with a lease at Washington Place.

The updated retail space will be outfitted with new flooring, lighting, millwork, interior storefront vestibules, and a VRF HVAC system. In keeping with and expanding upon the layout of the previous location, the new store will have two bathrooms, a kitchenette, back office, and extensive storage space. The interior will also be painted.

The new storefront will have an entrance on both Washington Street and Walnut Street, provide ample parking for customers, and offer a greater convenience and an improved shopping experience while continuing to contribute to the vitality of Newtonville.
