Further Update On Code Review for Electrical Apprentices

The Electrical Board confirmed that the 237 CMR 13 has been updated effective 2/7 stating all Apprentices applying to sit for the exam will need the 15 hr. CE from the current code cycle adopted at time of when they take their exam. The Board set a date of March 31 as a deadline for this additional Educational requirement and will start rejecting applications that do not have the 15 hr. CE completion certificate.

If someone sits for exam from now and before 3/31, the state will not reject the application to sit for test but that apprentice will need to take the 15 hr. CE before next code cycle.

Please note: The 15 hr. CE hours DO NOT count as part of the apprentice’s 600 hours nor can the 15 hr. CE hours be used in place of class hours missed. Gould Construction Institute will schedule 15 hr. CE classes in Woburn and in Springfield for our 4th year students who will be graduating. As soon as the class details are confirmed, we will send out a notice and post on our website.
