Erland Construction Announces New Project at Lesley University

Lesley University, a private university committed to transformative education through active learning, scholarly research, diverse forms of artistic expression, and the integration of rigorous academics with practical, professional experience, has teamed with Prellwitz Chilinski Associates and Erland Construction to revamp 16,000sf within Sherrill Hall, an existing library and classroom building on the school’s Cambridge campus. The 6-month renovation will revitalize the building’s use for students, faculty and staff; creating new places to learn, study, and interact with one another.

The first floor of the building will be outfitted with a new study room, café, and conference rooms as well as workstations, lounge seating and circulation desk. The basement level, where majority of the library’s books are stored, will also receive an upgrade including the installation of compact shelving, student lockers, and a kitchenette. In addition to these reconfigurations, the building’s fire protection system will be updated throughout the space. The renovation will ultimately create an environment that better serves the needs of Lesley University’s evolving student population.

Sherrill Hall will remain occupied throughout construction. Erland will maintain accessibility to the library and minimize disruption to its ongoing operations by establishing a logistics plan and staggered approach focused on safety.

The renovation project will be Erland’s first time partnering with Lesley University.
